Eddie Douglas Anderson

Elder Eddie Douglas Anderson, affectionately called Brother Doug, is the senior pastor of the Tabernacle of Jesus Church located in the city of Newark, New Jersey.

Pastor serves as a missionary/evangelist to the body of Christ, and has travelled to the foreign field to preach and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. His ministry began in the old Essex County Youth House, and from there to various prisons, the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center, various nursing homes, and street evangelism.

Pastor Douglas believes the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is the answer for this generation, and desires to teach and equip the body of Christ. Presently he serves as co-chairperson of the Harvesttime InternationalMinistry to Ghana West Africa, as well as Kenya. He has lived in Assuit, Egypt as a missionary to the Lillian Trasher Orphanage where he saw many Egyptians saved and filled with the blessed Holy Ghost.

Pastor Anderson was ordained bishop/pastor in 1997 by the late Bishop Willie L. Smith, overseer of Christian Pentecostal Church of Christ. He is celebrating 31 years of marriage to his wife Carolyn, and is the father of one daughter, Dana Marie.

He is proud of his many spiritual sons and daughters in the gospel. His vision for the future is "souls for Jesus". Pastor has been affirmed as an apostle in the Lord's church since August, 2007.

Joseph Elijah Barrett

Elder Joseph Elijah Barrett has been a member of Tabernacle of Jesus since November, 2014 although he has known the pastor for nearly 30 years.

Elder Barrett can thank his father, the late Elder Joseph Elias Barrett (1898 - 1987), for his upbringing in strict holiness and apostolic teaching. He has also inherited a love for reading and teaching. He counts as his mentor the late Bishop Willie Smith, founder of Christian Pentecostal Church of Christ (CPCC) and Eastern Bible Institute, both located in Irvington, NJ.

Elder Barrett joined Christian Pentecostal sometime in the early '80s. He served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, board member, church van driver, and street and door-to-door witness team member. Elder Barrett was also privileged to be the official baptizer and served with the team that picked up invalids from the local nursing home.

Bishop Smith nurtured the gift that lay within Elder Barrett by allowing him to teach a weekly oneness of God Bible class and occasionally preaching the Sunday morning sermon. He was also appointed to be an instructor of New Testament Greek and Oneness at Eastern Bible Institute.

When Bishop Smith engaged the services of a former Christian Bible college Greek and Hebrew insructor to teach Greek at CPCC, Elder Barrett seized the opportunity. After the instructor stopped traveling to the church, Elder Barrett continued his Greek studies at the instructor's home. He also learned Old Testament Hebrew.

In the early 1980s, Elder Barrett purchased the book 'The Oneness of God' by David K. Bernard. That book forever changed his life. He developed a love and a passion for the oneness. After years of study and teaching the oneness, Elder Barrett wrote his first oneness book called 'The Three Manifestations of Jesus: Biblical Truth of the Oneness of God' (1987).

Elder Barrett began writing and publishing a monthly Bible-teaching newsletter called The Apostolic Voice in January, 1990. Using his personal finances, he sent the 20 page newsletter to apostolic churches throughout the United States. Afterwards he changed the format to a magazine and renamed it Oneness. This magazine is no longer in publication. Elder Barrett writes daily Oneness Bible study articles on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/onegodjesus/.)

Elder Barrett is an author, writer, and teacher. He has taught the oneness on numerous occasions both locally and throughout the United States. Elder Barrett was invited to teach in Johnstown, PA, Los Angeles, CA, Baltimore, MD, and Winston-Salem, NC. He has also written a total of eleven books. After publishing Living A God-Glorifying Life Through Good Health, Elder Barrett was featured on CNN in September, 2007. He has a B.S. in Information Technology, is a certified Nutrition Specialist, and loves designing websites. He is married to Evangelist Dolores Barrett (30 years). They currently reside in Fords, NJ.
